Summer Cleaners & Groundskeepers

Overview:

Queensbury Union Free School District is seeking reliable and motivated individuals to join our team as Summer Cleaners & Groundskeepers. This temporary position is crucial to maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors during the summer months. Responsibilities:

1. Cleaning and Sanitizing:
• Perform daily cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and vacuuming classrooms, offices, hallways, and common areas.
• Disinfect and sanitize surfaces, including desks, chairs, doorknobs, and other high-touch areas, using approved cleaning agents.
• Empty and clean waste receptacles regularly.
• Restock restroom supplies as needed.
2. Grounds Maintenance:
• Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of school grounds by picking up litter, emptying outdoor trash cans, and keeping walkways clear.
• Assist with lawn care duties such as mowing, trimming, edging, and weeding.
• Help with the upkeep of athletic fields, playgrounds, and outdoor recreational areas.
3. Assist with Special Projects:
• Support maintenance staff with tasks such as moving furniture, setting up for events, and minor repairs.
• Follow safety protocols and guidelines when using equipment or handling hazardous materials.
4. Communication:
• Report any maintenance issues, safety concerns, or needed repairs to the appropriate supervisor promptly.
• Collaborate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure tasks are completed efficiently.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Prior experience in custodial work, groundskeeping, or related fields is a plus but not required; training will be provided.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining cleanliness and safety standards.
• Physical stamina and the ability to perform tasks that involve bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods.
• Reliable transportation to and from the work location.

Schedule and Compensation:

$17.25/hour, M-F
