Position Responsibilities:
The hourly lab specialist attends to the mouse colony, mouse genotyping, mouse IVIS Imaging, laboratory experimentation (including some tissue culture work), PCR, gel electrophoresis/analysis of PCR, and biochemical, molecular, and cytological analysis of mouse tissue and conducting western blot analysis and growth assays. This position also completes regular lab chores, orders supplies, etc.
Required Qualifications:
High School diploma (or equivalent); molecular/cellular biology and laboratory experience; Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.
Preferred Qualifications:
BS or BA degree preferred, but not required if applicant has molecular/cellular biology and laboratory experience.
Experience working with mice and rodents. A reasonable understanding of biostatistics and imaging for biomedical research.
